Authorizing Faculty/Staff Department Accounts
SLS faculty and staff may sign up for Drupal accounts here. The info from these forms is sent to webteam@law.stanford.edu.
If more than one people need to maintain their department's webpages or events, they'll probably want a "Department Account". Here's a brief description of the types of roles a department account can have:
- Content Manager: This role enables the department to maintain their webpage(s) on the SLS website. The department account username must be the author of that page in order to edit it.
- Event Manager: This role enables the department to post events to the SLS Event Calendar System.
Once you receive the form, follow these steps to activate their account:
- Login to the Dashboard.
- Go to User Management -> Users -> Add User
- Type in the information for the following fields:
- Username: Make something up that's meaningful and easy to remember. (For example, the username for the Programs Group is slsprograms.) you can ask what that group prefer,
- E-Mail Address: This is their deparment's address. It can be any email address, but we suggest that it be an address that all account users have access to. (Reason number one, if this account were to be an "Event Manager" account, if this account were to add events to the SLS Calendar, all the email confirmations will be sent to that email address.)
- Password: Make a password that's easy to remember. The group will have the power to change their password later on if they wish.
- Roles: Check the box(es) next to the roles they wish to have.
- If they requested an "Event Manager" account:
- Select "Calendar: Faculty/Staff" and click the "Create new account/Save" button.
- If they requested a "Content Manager" account:
- Select "Content Manager: Faculty/Staff", and click the "Create new account/Save" button.
- Next, you'll need to make this username the "Page Author" of their student org page. So, copy the entire username, you'll need to paste this somewhere very soon.
- For each page that they want access to:
- Find the page on the SLS website.
- Click its "Edit" tab.
- Click the "Page author" tab and paste their username in the field "Page Author".
- Click the "Save" button to finish.
- If they requested an "Event Manager" account:
- Email the department the appropriate confirmation message from webteam@law.stanford.edu:
-
