Department Accounts

Faculty and Staff can learn more and sign up for Drupal accounts here. The tutorials below detail how to grant someone the permissions associated with their departmental accounts.

Give them Permissions:

First you need to give the person the correct permissions.

  1. Login to the Dashboard.
  2. Go to User Management then Users then select Add User
  3. Enter their Username: Choose something that's relevant to their group and easy to remember (example:  the username for the Programs Group is slsprograms).
  4. Enter their email address: This is their deparment's address. It can be any email address, but we suggest that it be an address that all account users have access to.
  5. Choose a password that's easy to remember. The group can  change their password later.
  6. Check the box(es) next to the roles they need. For event manager accounts select Calendar: Faculty/Staff. For Content Manager accounts select Content Manager: Faculty/Staff. For both accounts check both boxes. Note: all new Content Managers must come in for a 20-30 minute training before receiving access.
  7. Click the Create new account/Save button.

For Content Managers, set them as the Page Author:

You will need to complete these steps for every page they wish to have access to. This step is for Content Managers only. Before making any Content Manager a page author, they must come in for a 20-30 minute training. For Event Managers skip this step.

  1. Find the page on the SLS website
  2. Click Edit
  3. Click the Page author tab and copy and paste their username in the field Page Author
  4. Click Save
  5. Repeat these steps to set them as Page Author for all the pages they want access to.

Send email confirmation:

Send all email confimations from webteam@law.stanford.edu and also CC webteam@law.stanford.edu on all emails. These should be sent whenever someone receives a new Drupal role or becomes page author for a page. The type of confirmation changes based on their roles, but the three are listed below:
