The finals of the Kirkwood Moot Court Competition will examine Doe v. Miller, 405 F.3d 700 (8th Cir. 2005), which involves the constitutionality of an Iowa statute providing that convicted sex offenders of children cannot live within 2000 feet of a school or child care facility.
Sitting as the United States Supreme Court will be Judge Frank Easterbrook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Judge Mary Schroeder of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and Justice Carlos Moreno ('75) of the California Supreme Court.
Finalists Julia Lipez and Alex Lees will argue on behalf of Petitioners while Nathaniel Garrett and Jason Tarricone will argue on behalf of Respondents.
