Leading scholars, policymakers and practitioners will discuss how to close the tax gap, or the quarter-trillion-dollar difference between the amount of tax owed to the government and the amount actually collected. The main topics of conversation will include reasons for noncompliance and ways to close the tax gap among small businesses, the self-employed, the poor and the wealthy. Speakers will also discuss potential steps to be taken by the new administration in an effort to combat the problem.
