In this talk, Nick Steinmetz will present a recent scientific paper in which researchers demonstrated, in awake humans, the dissociation of action and intention. This work has great implications for the way we understand the interaction between conscious intention and behavior and may bear on legal theory and doctrine. Nick is a neuroscience graduate student in the labs of Dr. Tirin Moore and Dr. Kwabena Boahen, where he studies visual perception, attention, and the control of eye movements.
