Shaking the Foundations is the West Coast conference on progressive lawyering, held annually at Stanford. This year’s theme is "Outside the Courtroom." Intentionally broad, the theme emphasizes everything from attorneys pursuing non-traditional career paths to communities who disproportionately lack access to the justice system. Panel topics this year will include the future of the death penalty, queer youth and schools, reproductive rights of women of color, racial justice and Hurricane Katrina, and three strikes sentencing. Workshop topics include community accountability and alliance building, drug policy, and alternative legal careers.
