Fall 2014 OCI Information - Students

Welcome to the Fall 2014 OCI Information page.  Here, and throughout the OCS website, you will find the information you need to successfully navigate the OCI season.

This year, Fall OCI is scheduled from Monday, August 18th – Friday, August 29th. Below, you’ll also find helpful information on what to expect during the OCI process, as well as specific dates and deadlines to keep in mind

RESEARCHING EMPLOYERS

OCS has an almost endless library of online and other resources to assist you in your research.

See which employers are participating in OCI and Resume Collect this Fall.

BIDDING FOR OCI AND RESUME COLLECT EMPLOYERS

OCI is a lottery-based system and bidding/ranking is done through Symplicity.  We have many resources to help you through that process.

The statistics below are calculated from responses provided by participating employers and will give you the number of students each fall who 1) Bid for an employer; 2) interviewed with that employer on campus; 3) had a callback interview; and 4) received and accepted an offer. This information has proven useful in the past in helping students determine how to best rank their employers.

Click here to begin using our new OCI Statistics Database. This tool will allow you to search through four years (2009-2012) of OCI and callback data (the years since we’ve had the H/P grading system).

RESUMES AND COVER LETTERS

Your resume is the employer's first impression of you and it should be succinct, descriptive and easy to read.  We have some great tips, advice and samples to help you craft your best resume and cover letter.

INTERVIEWS

One of the keys to landing a job with the employer you want is through the interview phase.  We have countless resources on interview preparation and the interview process, including online videos from OCI firms on interview advice.

OTHER MATERIALS

You'll want to bring a copy of your transcripts (both SLS and undergrad), writing sample and list of references to your interview.  Below is some helpful information on other important interview materials, as well as how to request a copy of your transcript.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How do I cancel an interview?  What do I bring with me to an interview?  Yes, we know you have many questions about the OCI process.  Read our FAQ’s – most of your questions have already been answered.

APPOINTMENTS WITH OCS ADVISORS

OCS counselors are available to meet with students for individual advising appointments. They will help you devise a personalized OCI strategy, review your resume and offer suggestions for employers to research. You can make an appointment or send an email to your advisor.

APPOINTMENTS WITH LEGAL RECRUITERS

In July, we will offer appointments to speak with legal recruiters (headhunters) in our largest markets. They can offer invaluable advice on specific firms, their practice area strengths, and their culture.  We will announce sign up instructions and appointment details in the OCS Bulletin.

OCS BULLETINS

The OCS Weekly Bulletin has up-to-the-minute OCI information to keep you on track during the summer. Read all the bulletins for important updates on OCI, such as new employers, relevant articles, upcoming deadlines and general OCS information.  Bulletins are available online the day they are sent out.
