CLE Legal Ethics and Elimination of Bias Workshop
September 12, 2008 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Stanford Law School's Center on the Legal Profession and the John and Terry Levin Center for Public Service and Public Interest are co-sponsoring a free CLE program for our community partners and the Law School community. Professor Deborah Rhode and Professor Larry Marshall will lead the two-part workshop. The first two hours will focus on legal ethics and the last hour will address elimination of bias. The ethics session will discuss issues of resources and triage that face public interest attorneys. There will also be a discussion of particular ethics issues faced by public interest attorneys, including issues presented by the attendees. For the elimination of bias session, the professors will present a series of hypotheticals and discuss whether it is appropriate to take a lawyer's or a client's race, gender, or ethnicity into account. The workshop will also address the issue of cross-cultural competence.
Please RSVP to Esther Ng by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Wednesday, September 10, 2008.
