Gary Cazalet from the Law School at the University of Melbourne will present a seminar that examines the current state of public interest litigation in Australia. He will discuss the systemic barriers to public interest litigation in Australia, consider possible reforms and suggest why Australian courts are reluctant to institute reforms that would assist citizens seek judicial redress.
Gary Cazalet teaches Dispute Resolution and Public Interest Litigation at the University of Melbourne. He has practised as a barrister appearing in public interest cases and was for many years a board member of the Public Interest Law Clearing House.This event is sponsored by the Center on the Legal Profession.
