February 25, 2010 12:45pm - 2:00pm

Room 230
Ben Heineman, former Senior Vice President and General Counsel at General Electric, argues that law firms must find a better balance between operating as a business and as a professional association. He offers a sharp critique of law firm greed and the desire to mimic investment bankers, and emphasizes that public service and other values must incorporated into law firm governance. Mr. Heineman is currently Senior Counsel at WilmerHale, a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Program on the Legal Profession at the Harvard Law School, and a Senior Advisor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
