Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel Sizzlin' Summer Seminar

The LADC is proud to announce that the special guest speaker at the 2011 Sizzlin' Summer Seminar will be Professor William B. Gould IV. Befitting the Sizzlin' Summer Seminar, Professor Gould will be speaking on one of the hottest topics in the nation: Labor Disputes in Sports: Of Players, Owners and Lockouts. Professor Gould is the Charles A. Beardsley Professor of Law, Emeritus at Stanford Law School, where he has served on the faculty since 1972. Professor Gould is one of the most prolific and influential labor and employment law scholars in the nation and world. He has published ten books and over sixty law review articles. He served as Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board 1994-1998. Professor Gould also has been a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators since 1970. He has arbitrated and mediated more than 200 labor disputes, including the 1992 and 1993 salary disputes in major league baseball.
Professor Gould's tenth book has just been published: Bargaining with Baseball: Labor Relations in an Age of Prosperous Turmoil (2011 McFarland Pub. Co.). Professor Gould has agreed to participate in a book signing for those attendees who would like to purchase his new book. The books will be available at a special discounted price.
The CLE agenda for the Sizzlin' Summer Seminar includes a judges' panel, a panel on the continuing viability of established legal rules and doctrines, Insurance Law Update (Shelby McKenzie), Recent Developments in Louisiana Law, ethics, professionalism, a panel discussion by in-house counsel, and a presentation by Exponent on use of technology in trial preparation and trials.
The Sizzlin' Summer Seminar costs $250 for 8.0 hours of CLE credit, including lunch at the Windsor Court.
