September 29, 2011 12:45pm - 2:00pm

Human Rights and Access to Justice: The Responsibility of American Lawyers with Michael Greco, head of the ABA Center for Human Rights and former ABA President.

Michael S. Greco, former ABA President and current Chair of the ABA Center for Human Rights, will discuss the current state of human rights protection in the United States and internationally, the interplay between human rights and access to justice, and the responsibility of the lawyer in that interplay. As President of the 400,000 member American Bar Association and now as Chair of the ABA Center for Human Rights, Greco leads the world's largest legal organization in its defense and advancement of the universal principles that underlie a just rule of law: (1) the human rights to life, liberty and freedom of thought and expression; (2) the right to a fair system of justice; and (3) the right to a standard of living that reflects and respects the human dignity that all people share in equal measure.

Sponsored by the Stanford Center on the Legal Profession and the Levin Center.
