The Last 600 Meters, a 90-minute documentary, looks at the two biggest battles of the Iraq war, Najaf and Fallujah, through the firsthand testimony of those who fought them. It won the 2008 Founder's Choice Award for Best Film at the GI Film Festival, and has received wide acclaim from critics and veterans of the battles themselves as honest, gripping, and apolitical. In addition to several SLVO members who served in Iraq, including one who actually fought in the battle of Fallujah, we will be joined by Jan Bender, who appears in the film and contributed firsthand footage of his battlefield experiences as a member of 3d Battalion, 1st Marines.
