The Center for Law and the Biosciences will host a lunchtime talk by Stanford School of Medicine Professor David Relman. Dr. Relman, who serves on the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, will discuss the Board's controversial request that the journals Science and Nature not publish certain details regarding research into avian flu. While the request was motivated by concerns about keeping potentially dangerous research out of the wrong hands, some critics view it as a form of censorship that is at odds with open scientific inquiry.
