Los Angeles: GSB Speaker Event Featuring Sanjay Sood, PhD '99

SLS alumni and guests are invited to join GSB and other Stanford alumni for a reception and speaker event featuring Sanjay Sood, PhD '99, on Creating Strong Entertainment Brands.

Sood's presentation will address the entertainment industry's focus on developing brand franchises as a key driver of revenues and profits. Movies such as Harry Potter and Transformers, television shows such as American Idol and Mad Men, video games such as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, and music artists such as Lady Gaga and U2 are all examples of strong entertainment brands. Sood will discuss the process of building a strong brand and apply the framework to brand strategies in the entertainment industry. One unique challenge of creating an entertainment brand is that there typically is not a physical product; hence the marketing program has to generate excitement around a brand experience. As a result, it is imperative to define what the entertainment brand stands for and communicate that brand essence in the marketing mix.

Heavy hors d'oeuvres, a full bar and great company will kick-off the evening. The cost is $15 per person for alumni and guests.
