Baseball has seen conflicts, strikes, and lockouts between players and owners for the past 140 years. As the 2012 season opens, it has become the model for peace rather than conflict, in contrast to other major sports like football, basketball and hockey.
Professor Gould is the Charles A. Beardsley Professor of Law, Emeritus of Stanford Law School and played a key role as Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board in resolving the 1995 baseball strike.
His book, Bargaining with Baseball, will be available for purchase at the event.
