Bridging Silicon Valley and Latin America - Legal Strategies to Position Startups for Success
May 17, 2012 12:45pm - 2:00pm
This is an exciting time for Latin American entrepreneurship. Latin America is quickly catching up on new innovations and technologies, and the region is spawning an increasing number of tech entrepreneurs from countries like Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia and Peru who are seeking to scale and expand their new ventures to Silicon Valley and beyond.
Come and join us for a discussion with Matias Zegers, Professor of Corporate and Securities Laws at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and partner at Bahamondez, Alvarez & Zegers, who will talk to us about his experience representing local tech companies and venture funds with the plan to scale abroad; and Daniel Green, Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig's Silicon Valley office, who specializes in representing many of these Latin American tech companies and VC firms in the US. The discussion will be a practical, real-world look at how Latin American startups and entrepreneurs can position themselves for success and what legal and other pitfalls to avoid as they venture into the US market.
The event will be moderated by Evan Epstein, Executive Director of the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford University.
This is event is co-sponsored by the Chile California Council
