Details

July 20, 2012 2:30pm

Paul Brest Hall West, Munger Graduate Residences
sponsored by the Stanford Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group

About the Event: The RE Futures Study is an initial investigation of the extent to which renewable energy supply can meet the electricity demands of the contiguous United States over the next several decades. It explores the implications and challenges of very high renewable electricity generation levels-from 30% up to 90%, focusing on 80%, of all U.S. electricity generation-in 2050. This study, supported by the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, has recently been published in the form of a technical report by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The briefing will provide an overview of the study organization, methodology, and key results.

Presenters:
  • Doug Arent, Executive Director, Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis, NREL
  • Maureen Hand, RE Futures Study Leader, NREL
  • Trieu Mai, RE Futures Study Lead Analyst for Scenario Analysis & Modeling, NREL
