INTENSIVE ORAL PRESENTATION WORKSHOP by Robert N. Sayler, UVA Law School
October 18, 2012 4:15pm - 6:15pm
Stanford alum Robert Sayler, renowned trial lawyer for over three decades (Covington & Burling in D.C.), now Professor of rhetoric and trial (UVA Law), will conduct two intensive workshops on enhancing oral presentation skills.
The workshop is a condensed version of courses Professor Sayler has taught to over 1000 lawyers, law students and undergraduates for many years. Each session will begin with a brief lecture distilling the best of the teaching in the field, supplemented by real world video clips ranging from the great to the ugly.
The first deals with overcoming the principal barriers to commanding delivery; the second treats time-honored lessons of classical rhetoric and modern psychology in constructing the persuasive message.
The second hour each day, will be hands-on: short video-taped and critiqued student presentations by each student. This second hour is open to the 10 students who were selected per Cathy Glaze’s email on September 24 about this event.
