The Future of Human Rights Speaker Series: Paul Hoffman, Lead Counsel, Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum Co.

Mr. Hoffman is a leading litigator of claims brought under the Alien Tort Statute. He is a partner with the Venice, CA based firm of Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman LLP and he has been the lead attorney or co-counsel on landmark human rights cases such as Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain, Doe v. Unocal, and Mehinovic v. Vuckovic.
Mr. Hoffman was previously the Legal Director of the ACLU Foundation of Southern California and the former Chair of the International Executive Committee of Amnesty International, Amnesty International USA, and the ACLU’s International Human Rights Committee. He is a founding board member of the Center for Justice and Accountability and a founder of the California Committee of Human Rights Watch. He has taught international human rights law at UCLA, USC, Loyola and the Oxford University/George Washington Program in International Human Rights Law, and he has written extensively on human rights issues.
