February 10, 2014 5:30pm - 8:00pm
The award-winning documentary, "Gideon's Army" will be screened at Stanford Law School, followed by a discussion with the director/producer, Dawn Porter (a former corporate lawyer) and Stanford Law School professor Ron Tyler, who directs the Criminal Defense Clinic and is a former federal defender. GIDEON’S ARMY follows the personal stories of Travis Williams, Brandy Alexander and June Hardwick, three young public defenders who are part of a small group of idealistic lawyers in the Deep South challenging the assumptions that drive a criminal justice system strained to the breaking point.
