The information contained in the documents below is being made available as a research tool for your job search. This information is not readily available on the web and was gathered by OCS with the intention of giving you an edge over other schools when looking outside the traditional big firms. Consequently, we ask that this information not be duplicated or shared with others outside of Stanford Law School.
The purpose of the spreadsheets is to provide you with a companion tool to the OCI process. We realize the opportunities in the large national firms will be more limited this fall, so we have conducted extensive outreach to non-OCI NALP firms and small and mid-sized firms in our most popular markets whose information can be hard to find. These are not exhaustive lists of small or mid-sized firms. Instead, we focused on firms that are considered to be "gems" in their market and/or were recommended by alumni, headhunters or other firms.
For the small and mid-sized firms, we've interviewed alumni and hiring partners at these firms to gather more information about their practice areas, hiring practices, and general work environment Where applicable, we've listed alumni at the firms, and where we don't have alumni, you will find information for the appropriate hiring contact. We've also noted which firms will participate in our newly established resume collect process this fall, and which prefer write in submissions.

The spreadsheets are separated into three categories:
Non OCI NALP Firms
These firms are NALP members who do not participate in our OCI program. They are generally mid-sized to large firms with well-established summer associate programs. We have made a distinction, where possible, as to which ones are participating in this year's resume collection, and which are accepting write-ins. If that section is blank it means that the employer has not yet responded to our outreach e-mails and calls. We recommend that for these employers, you go ahead and apply directly.
Small and Midsized Firms- Contacted
These firms are generally not NALP members and don't regularly participate in our OCI program, with the few exceptions noted on the spreadsheet. We have contacted each of these firms and have spoken to alumni, hiring partners, or recruitment managers to gather firm and hiring information. As you can imagine, this is an extremely time-intensive process, so not every firm in these spreadsheets has comments in the Hiring and General Information sections yet. We're continuing to contact and interview attorneys at these firms and will update the spreadsheets as additional information is gathered.
Small and Midsized Firms -Not Contacted
These firms are generally not NALP members and do not participate in our OCI program. Due to their small size, it is unlikely that they have summer programs, so we did not contact them for specific information, but we have provided firm and hiring contact information and alumni contacts, if applicable, in case you would still like to reach out to some of them.
