California Advances Bill To Set GHG Fees, Spend Auction Revenues

Publication Date:

Carbon Control News

The Environmental Law Clinic is mentioned in Carbon Control News in an article about a bill advancing through the California State Senate that will specify how hundreds of millions of dollars collected through greenhouse gas (GHG) emission fees and potentially emission allowance auctions will be spent by the state in the coming years. The bill, authored by the state senator who wrote California's landmark climate change law, leaves the implementation of emission fees and auctions to those regulators managing the state's current climate program.

Sen. Fran Pavley (D) who sponsored the bill says she is "mindful of the opposition and is working with the state's Legislative Counsel and the Stanford Law Clinic to ensure the bill's provisions will meet the fee-nexus law."
