Professor Deborah L. Rhode is quoted in a San Jose Mercury News article that examines women voters "feeling split" between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:

Deborah Rhode, a Stanford University professor who has written books on women and leadership, says "putting women in power is not the same as empowering women."

Both Clinton and Obama have strong stands on women's issues, she said.

"To view this as a feminist litmus test is a mistake," she said.
