Spiegel Online carried this analysis piece on the domestic political reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Boumediene v. Bush and quoted Barbara Olshansky who worked on the case:

For the White House a threatening Super-Disaster, for Human Rights Advocates a milestone. Barbara Olshansky of Stanford University, who represented the 170 Guantanamo inmates said SPIEGEL ONLINE: β€œIt is a remarkable judgment – after years during which I asked myself whether we are still living in a democracy.” Many observers also see in it a noticeable setback for the attempts of the White House to continue to expand the powers of the U.S. President.
