Lecturer in Law Judge Jeremy Fogel is quoted in the Daily Journal in an article about the need for diversification of the San Francisco Bench:
As President-elect Barack Obama takes office today in the nation's capital, attention on the other side of the country - specifically in the Northern District of California - is turning to what he might do with the openings on the federal bench.
As many as five spots could open up early in the Obama administration, according to people familiar with the court.

District Judge Jeremy Fogel is often mentioned as a possible candidate for the 9th Circuit or the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. The patent appeals court has never had a West Coast judge.
"If there is a possibility that it could happen, I don't have the family considerations that I would have earlier in my life," Fogel said. "There has to be an interest."
