Joan Petersilia, co-director of the Stanford Criminal Justice Center, spoke with Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency's Leonard Sipes about the California prison realignment and her opinions regarding community corrections throughout the country.

Dr. Petersilia is a leading researcher of California's Prison Realignment initiative; she uses examples from that experience to discuss community corrections throughout the country.

Dr. Petersilia spent more than 25 years studying the performance of U.S. criminal justice agencies and has been instrumental in affecting sentencing and corrections reform in California and throughout the United States.
