Professor Joseph A. Grundfest is quoted in the Daily Journal about some lawmakers' interests in knowing whether "kickbacks are widespread" in class action lawsuits:

Congress could also delve into whether there's more judges could do to monitor settlements, suggested Joseph A. Grundfest, a professor at Stanford Law School.

As for Lerach's statement about kickbacks being commonplace, Grundfest suggested that the disgraced lawyer could answer that himself.

"If Lerach said that, let's ask Lerach what he meant by it," he said. "That would be a perfectly legitimate topic of inquiry."
