National Journal: House Race Hotline

The National Journal reports on Professor Lawrence Lessig possible run for the late Tom Lantos' congressional seat.

Jackie Speier has the inside track. But some "dems ... want a competitive primary," and they've "started an effort to draft" Stanford Law Prof. Lawrence Lessig (D). Lessig "has been a strong critic" of the Iraq war and the "influence of lobbyists' money" in politics. Lessig said that he'd pledge "to refuse money" from lobbyists and PACS, and "noted that Speier had accepted donations" from insurance companies" in a previous race. He's already started a campaign cmte, and said he'll decide "this week" whether to run.
