Mostly Liberal Nominees In Running For 9th Circuit Seats
Professor Pamela S. Karlan is named in a Daily Journal article as a potential candidate for a judgeship on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Karlan is quoted:
Two vacant judgeships on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals are tempting ambitious lawyers and lower court jurists. The likely candidates come with liberal credentials that would presumably appeal to the Obama administration.
Another potential nominee Pamela S. Karlan, a Stanford Law School professor, said she hadn't given the matter much thought, although her name was mentioned by several people interviewed by the Daily Journal.
"At some point in my life, I think it'd be great to be a judge," she said.
Karlan is the founding director of Stanford's Supreme Court Litigation Clinic and a former assistant counsel for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She once clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Harry A. Blackmun, author of Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973).
