One Web Day, An 'Earth Day' For The Internet, Celebrates Online Activism
Professor Lawrence Lessig is referenced and quoted in a San Jose Mercury News story about One Web Day, an event that celebrates the achievements of the Internet:
A rally in New York drew such Internet luminaries as Lawrence Lessig of Stanford Law School, Craig Newmark of Craigslist and Susan Crawford, a University of Michigan law professor who launched the idea for One Web Day in 2006.
Lessig said, "This technology, this community, this dream is far more than any of its founders ever could have imagined." But he also blasted the failure of government, calling for better online activism "to deal with the extraordinary problems that weigh us down."
