Newsday carried this Associated Press story about the settlement between the Estate of James Joyce and Carol Shloss, acting professor of English and Joycean scholar at Stanford University. The agreement enables Shloss to publish excerpts of letters between James Joyce and his daughter Lucia Joyce. In 2003, Shloss published Lucia Joyce: To Dance in the Wake about Lucia's influence over her father's novel, Finnegans Wake but Shloss had not been allowed to include important material that supports her scholarship, such as excerpts of the letters. Shloss was represented by a team from the Stanford Law School Center for Internet and Society, Cyberlaw Clinic, and Fair Use Project.

Anthony Falzone, executive director of the Fair Use Project, is quoted:

”Our client got exactly what she asked for in her complaint, and more,” said Anthony Falzone, who directs the Fair Use Project at Stanford’s Law School.
