Securities Class-Actions Edge Up in 2013
Professor Joseph Grundfest comments on the rising number of class action lawsuits for United States Law Week.
The number of securities class-actions filed in federal court ticked up slightly in 2013, according to a pair of reports released this month.
There were 166 filings in 2013, up 9 percent from the 152 in 2012, a Jan. 28 analysis by Cornerstone Research said.
If that happens, “then the entire ecology of the market for class action securities fraud is likely to undergo a dramatic change,” Stanford Law School Professor Joseph Grundfest said in the Cornerstone report.
