The Daily Journal references Lecturer in Law Deborah A. Sivas '87 in an essay about Judge Susan Illston's '73 career path:
Deborah Sivas, director of the Stanford Environmental Law Clinic, represents the coalition of West Coast environmental groups that brought suit against the agency; several Great Lakes states later became plaintiffs in the case.
Sivas, who has also appeared before Illston on several occasions, described her as a no-nonsense judge who doesn't suffer a lot of frivolity.
"She is very smart and grasps this stuff," said Sivas. "She's not afraid of complexity and science."
