The ABA Journal published this obituary on Professor Emeritus John H. Barton:

A professor emeritus who taught at Stanford Law School since 1969 has died from injuries he suffered in a July 14 bike accident.

John Barton wrote the undergraduate textbook International Arms Control, considered the standard, the Mercury News reports. He died at the age of 72 from brain injuries suffered in the accident.

Barton focused on international law issues with a science focus, studying defense, intellectual property and health care, according a Stanford profile.

Stanford law professor Hank Greely told the Stanford Report that Barton “was always driven not just to understand, but to make the world a better place—safer from nuclear war, safer from the ravages of disease."
