Bloomberg.com reports that Center for Law and the Biosciences Fellow Emily Murphy is the winner of a Gates award:
Harvard University alumna Emily Murphy failed to win a Rhodes scholarship, the award that sparked the careers of Bill Clinton, former Senator Bill Bradley and Supreme Court Justice David Souter. Her Gates award may suffice.

Murphy, who is now conducting postdoctoral research at Stanford University's law school in California, plans to pursue law school and teach.
"In many ways, it was much more satisfying to get the Gates" she said. That's because Gates awardees are initially selected by Cambridge faculty based on academic merit.
