Stanford Food Law and Policy Society


The Stanford Food Law and Policy Society connects students with government leaders, professionals, and policymakers developing healthy, accessible, and sustainable food systems. Members host speakers, organize conferences, and gain experience drafting ordinances and influencing local policies addressing food issues. 

Current Issues in Food Policy:

  • Secure global access to food
  • Promote rural economic development
  • Protect the safety of the food supply
  • Reverse the obesity and diabetes epidemics
  • Develop sustainable, equitable food systems

  • Healthy and Local TGIF hosted by FLPS, ELS, and SALDF
  • Food Justice Panel at Shaking the Foundations
  •  Farm Bill 101 Panel hosted by FLPS, SLLSA, and ELS
  • Sponsered registration to Childhood Obesity Bay Area Conference
  • Conference on local government efforts to prevent obesity
