Lecturer in Law
Ticien Marie Sassoubre joined Stanford Law School in 2008 as a lecturer in law and the humanities. Her publications in peer review journals and law reviews range from close readings of the influence of property relations on personal identity to analysis of the connection between legal realism and the ascendancy of film in 20th century America. Her courses treat the historical role of law and lawyers in American society, the interaction of law with other cultural forms, including literature and film, and modes of legal and non-legal persuasion.
Ticien was a Lecturer in Residence at the UC Berkeley School of Law from 2003 to 2008, where she taught in the undergraduate Legal Studies program as well as the law school. She received her Ph.D. from the Stanford English Department in 2001 and was a Post-Doctoral Scholar in the Stanford English Department in 2002-2003.
