This course covers the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of trademark rights and related forms of protection under principles of unfair competition law. The course includes an examination of the policies underlying trademark law, as well as all basic legal questions. In addition to these basic issues, the course addresses issues of current interest, such as: protection of non-traditional subject matter; conflicts between trademark protection and the copyright or patent laws; and protection of trademark rights against dilution. No science or engineering background is required for this course.
