Social Science and International Institutions

Description

This interdisciplinary seminar, drawing from economics, law and political science, will feature current research applying social scientific methods to the study of international law and institutions. Each weekly session will involve the presentation of an academic paper by Stanford faculty or visitors from other universities. In scheduling speakers we will endeavor to maintain a balance between the three disciplines. Students can obtain credit for the course either by writing commentaries on a selection of the papers to be presented, or by preparing a substantial paper of their own on a subject within the broad theme of the seminar. Students electing to write commentaries will graded on the MP/R/F system, and will receive "W" credit. Students writing substantial papers will be graded on the H/P/R/F system and will receive "R" credit.
