Public Interest, Public Service, and Professional Ethics

Description

This course explores issues that arise in representing the public interest, with particular attention to questions of professional ethics. It is designed for students who hope to spend at least part of their careers engaged in public interest, government, and/or pro bono work. Topics include the access to justice, the advocate's role, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, lawyer/client relationships, representation of organizations, theories of social change. Visitors from diverse practice settings will be invited.
