Religion and the First Amendment

Description

This course will cover the major doctrines and decisions interpreting the provisions of the First Amendment affecting religion, especially the free exercise and establishment clauses. Special emphasis will be placed on the historical, philosophical, and theological roots of first amendment principles, and we will also study the briefs and arguments in a case currently in litigation.
