We officially launched SLSConnect February 2, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. Our first member signed up approximately one hour later at 7:27 p.m. and within the first 12 hours we had more than 350 people become members! We are so thrilled with the growth of our new social and professional network. In addition to all the connection opportunities, SLSConnect will also be a place to find exclusive SLS content not found anywhere else such as live chats with professors and legal industry experts, private podcasts, and even free MCLE credit opportunities. If you’re already a member, thanks for joining us – if you haven’t made your way yet, give it a try!
With the first month underway, we've had a few questions come in about the log in process. When we designed the system it was clear that users did not want another username and password to remember, so we built SLSConnect to support what is known as “single sign-on.”
Single sign-on (SSO) is a method of access control that enables a user to log in once and gain access to the resources of multiple software systems without being prompted to log in again. SLSConnect accesses all the information you keep in the Alumni Directory and displays that in the SLSConnect community.
In order to successfully create an account on SLSConnect, we need to *see* your e-mail address (so that we know it is you). When your e-mail addresses are marked as *hidden* in the Alumni Directory, SLSConnect cannot verify you – so some of you may have seen the following message while trying to create an SLSConnect account: “Alert, we were unable to add your record to our internal access list.”
If you run into that problem, simply go to the Privacy Settings section in your Alumni Directory Profile and choose to unhide your e-mail address. That should do it! If not, e-mail helpslsconnect@law.stanford.edu
Updating your profile
Once you’ve successfully logged into SLSConnect, the above rules also apply. If you need to update your profile, selecting the “Update your personal profile” link in the SLSConnect left-hand navigation bar will take you to the Alumni Directory to manage your personal information.
To get back to the SLSConnect community, select the link “Go to SLSConnect” and you'll be able to go directly back.
SLSConnect is your network. It’s an online resource exclusively for SLS alumni and students to maintain our community and enhance networking opportunities. It’s a site that we hope will constantly evolve and grow to reflect your interests and needs.
