Consequences of Attorney Misconduct: Prosecution, Disbarment, Loss of Elected Office, and a Felony Conviction

November 19, 2013 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Room 280A
Former federal prosecutor Hank Shea,  a fellow with the University of St. Thomas Holloran Center for Ethical Leadership, will host an ethics presentation regarding the severe consequences of attorney misconduct.
Co-presenting will be Steve Brown, a former Missouri lawyer and state representative who pled guilty to obstruction of justice of a Federal Election Commission investigation.  Mr. Brown later cooperated against a Missouri state senator.  Shea and Brown will discuss the events that led to  Brown’s guilty plea, as well as the price of his misconduct: a felony conviction, two years of probation, $40,000 fine, loss of his legislative post, surrender of his law license and disbarment.
