Launching a Career in Human Rights

    Omar Shakir is the 2013-2014 Arthur R. and Barbara D. Finberg Fellow at Human Rights Watch. A part of the Middle East and North Africa Division, he investigates human rights abuses in the region. A former Fulbright Scholar in Syria, Omar holds a JD from Stanford Law School, an MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Affairs, and a BA in International Relations from Stanford. He speaks Arabic.
    Omar will talk about his current work in the Middle East and North Africa, and how his time at SLS prepared him for launching a career in international human rights. 
    This is a brown bag lunch, and attendance is capped at 20 people.
