Abstract

The International Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Clinic has filed an amicus brief before the Constitutional and Social Law Chamber of the Peruvian Supreme Court on August 25, 2013.  The amicus brief argues that a Peruvian regulation aimed at developing a database of indigenous peoples in Peru fails to protect indigenous peoples’ rights under international human rights law, specifically under the International Labor Organization’s Convention No. 169.  The Clinic wrote and filed the brief together with the public interest law clinic at the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Peru, the Global Justice Clinic at the Universidad de Los Andes of Colombia and the Colombian NGO DeJusticia.
